Weekend 1830

Copyright Phil Thomason

Last weekend we've spent a delightful moment in a wonderful castle near Nevers, France.
The theme was 1830 and I could wear a corset for the first time :)
I don't have pictures of the corset itself yet but I will take some very soon.
That was my first attempt at tailoring and this is quite challenging in every way....
Click on the picture to see Phil Thomason's beautiful album.
A very fine period to be explored and certainly worth the effort.

OMG! I totally didn't recognize you without the 'wigs' of the 17th and 18th century fashions you usually indulge in. Wow! You look fabulous m'dear. Tailoring is very scary to me. I made one m-notched tail coat once and the pattern I used was a friends and it went together okay...the guy I was making it for was not 'robust' so he was relatively easy to fit. However, all the padding stitching, etc. Yikes! Well,, I so love Thomason's photography and you all are lucky that he is there on
your side of the world to capture such events. Is he costly? Anwyay, did you ever get the thread you needed? Hope the links worked out. Glad to see you. Cheers. Angela

Thanks Angela ;) good to dress up without wig for once :) I found the thread you recommended me in a shop here in Brussels and I used it for the waistcoats.
It was perfect... if you wax it a bit before use. I saw that you will be in Bath next year, that's great!! I so want to go back there!! Perhaps we'll meet then? See you. Phil.

I am so glad that the thread worked out. Yes, I am very much planning to be in Bath in 2014. I have not been out of the US since 1984 so I have to get a passport and all. So much to do! But I do have a little less than a year to prepare. I think that would be fabulous to meet you. If not, one day for sure. Cheers. Angela
